The Scholarships and Capacity Building Office mission is to attract Qatari Nationals to complete their higher studies (Master, PhD) abroad. The office aim to polish their leadership, teaching and research. The office is concentrating on achieving Qatar National Vision 2030 in the Human Development Pillar that seeks to empower the people of Qatar so that they will be able to sustain and support their country's growth. This requires improvements within education, health care and the workforce in general.
Scholarships and Capacity Building office has developed a National capacity program that aims to support Qatari PHD holder's faculty in Qatar University and to provide them with the needed tools to succeed in Leadership, teaching and research .The academic sector has developed a three-stage program that aims to merge Qatari faculty member in the university community smoothly and effectively. This program mission is to invest in Qatari faculty members to match Qatar National vision 2030 in the Human Development Pillar in Qatarization, which aims to increase the ratio of Qataris in the workforce and to enhance the caliber of nationals through providing opportunities for betterment, including academic achievement, training and support.
The Scholarships Office in the VPAA office is responsible for:
- Administering scholarship programs and supporting Qatari national students at both the Master and Doctorate level in the best higher education institutions in the world.
- A Qatari nationality under 24 years.
- Cumulative GPA 3.5/4 and above.
- Completed 60 of cumulative hours or more.
- Proof of language.
- Pass the department and the Dean interviews.
- The approval of the higher academic affairs committee of Qatar University.
- A Qatari nationality under 28 years.
- Graduated from an accredited University as a full time.
- Cumulative GPA 3.5/4 and above or equivalent.
- Proof of language - minimum ILETS 5.5.
- Pass the interviews in the (Department - Dean - Scholarships office - Committee)
- A Qatari nationality under 35 years.
- Graduated from an accredited University as a full time
- Cumulative GPA 3.5/4 and above or equivalent.
- Proof of language - minimum ILETS 5.5.
- Pass the interviews in the (Department - Dean - Scholarships office - Committee)
This program aim to support Qatari faculty members in Qatar University;
- First stage - Academic aspect (excellence in teaching, learning and scientific research)
- Second stage - leadership aspect (Excellence in leadership basic skills)
- Third stage - advanced leadership aspect ( Excellent leaders)
- Following up on scholarship recipients' financial and administrative affairs plus monitoring their academic progress by communicating with their respective universities and with students themselves via e-mails, phone calls and letters.
- Establishing relationships with the overseas colleges and universities to facilitate initial choice and ongoing relationships to advance the progress and welfare of the scholarship recipient.
- Maintaining good relations with colleges and universities abroad, on academic matters and on Scholar matters:
- Help in building strategic long-term partnerships with universities, diplomatic missions, business, schools and industry associations that are crucial to QU’s mission;
- Following-up on existing and new MoUs and partnerships agreement implementation;
- Providing support to the President, VPAA and Colleges in incoming and outgoing visits;
- Proactively working with Colleges to identify potential partners and develop collaborations with other higher education institutions, schools and industry that lead to sponsored projects, commercialization and entrepreneurial opportunities;
- Building an alliance of local, state and national support for QU's partnerships policy
