The Referral System connects faculty members advisors and/or staff at QU with each other to contribute and help students at QU succeed by referring them to the appropriate center/department to get the help and support they may need.
We aim through this system to:
- Provide a positive and structured method for addressing students’ issues that impact their success.
- Improve coordination of communication among staff, faculty and students.
- Enhance partnership between the Student Affairs and the Colleges/Programs.
- Increase student retention rates and foster positive student development.
- Raise campus awareness about QU community resources and students's needs.
How does the system work?
- You recognize one or more of the warning signs of student needs.
- You fill out the electronic referral form with basic information about the student and his/her needs.
- The system generates three emails: one for you, one for the student that you have referred, and one for the party to which the student has been referred to. Referrals made through the system are confidential.
- The center will contact the student within 48 hours of the referral and the student may also contact the center.
When should I refer a student?
- If the student’s semester or cumulative GPA falls below 2.1.
- If the Student has exceeded 50% of the absence limit (25%).
- If the student approaches you and asks for help or to be referred to a certain service.
- If you notice that the student exhibits one or more of the warning signs of emotional, behavioral, or academic issues.
- If you realize that a student may have special needs or a learning disability.
